About Desi Bihari

We buy handwoven cloth directly from artisan weavers across India — no mills, no middlemen — and turn it into ready pieces, fabric by the metre, and made-to-measure outfits. Every length is traced back to the cluster and the family that wove it. Handloom is slow: a sari can take a weaver days at the loom, and the small irregularities in the weave are the proof a human made it rather than a machine. We work with weavers in Bihar, Bengal, Kashmir, Rajasthan and the South, and we pay a price agreed with the weaver rather than dictated to them.
